On May 20, 2023, as a result of the Dollars for Scholars Campaign, the VLWWC was able to award scholarships totaling $6000 to Sumner High School students. The scholarship recipients were Jenaimary De Jesus, Georgia Lee Parson, and Tyra Wilson. Each student plans to further their education at the collegiate level in four-year university programs majoring in nursing, marketing, and business administration respectively.
The VLWWC Scholarship Committee developed the selection criteria, conducted student interviews, and determined the student award recipients. Committee members included co-chairs Ann Potts and Pam Morse and members Barbara Silver, Karen Corbin and Jane Golden.
The Back to School Campaign involves community donations of school supplies that are donated to Wimauma and Reddick Elementary Schools. Supplies are dropped off at members' residences during the campaign and then delivered to the school prior to the start of school. Donations are also accepted and this year $3400 was raised.
