Posted on Feb 21st, 2024
The Valencia Lakes West Women’s Club (VLWWC) has been in existence since 2009 and has a mission of contributing to local communities through voluntary endeavors and charitable giving.
In order to raise awareness about cardiovascular health risk, which is the leading cause of death among women, the Club held a “Wear Red Dinner Dance” on February 2, 2024. The event coincided with the American Heart Association National Wear Red Day. SCC EMS Chief Michael Bardell and Shirley Bardell, Assistant Chief Medical Officer were both in attendance.
Proceeds of $2021 were donated to Sun City Center EMS. The squad benefits the community by responding to emergency calls, providing education and medical equipment, and assisting with disaster communication for the Valencia Lakes community.
At the event, SCC EMS Chief Michael Bardell spoke about the importance of community outreach to improve quality of life. Their outreach program emphasizes and teaches warning signs for cardiovascular events and cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills.
